What I Think #WIT - Positive and Negative : How the Universe is Divided © #WorkInProgress

Existential Division is composed of the following; Truth and Lie (?)

I have to admit though that this division is highly questionable to me. Here’s What I Think why. An analysis of the core definition of Truth heavily implies that only Truth exists while Lie does not.

Truth – (1) the body or real things, events and facts : actuality

Based on the definition above and when we consider the fact (Truth) that the opposite of the Truth is the Lie –

Untruth – the state of being false or a lie

then The Lie does not have a state of being real, not a fact, no actuality and therefore it does not exist in the realm of reality, in the real world, in the existing universe.

A lie is a lie. It does not exist. It is nothing. It is not a thing.

A draft reader asked this question : "If lie does not exist, what is the source of our present problem?"

What I Think - Let us first identify the proper meaning of the word "problem" that specifically pertains to the question and here is what I found

Problem – a matter or situation regarded as unwelcome or harmful and needing to be dealt with and overcome.

I will be working around the above definition to answer the question.

Question : “If a lie does not exist, what is the source of our problem?”

What I Think : The source of human problems is not the presence of lies but the absence of truth.

Following our analysis that in its core definition, lies do not have presence, no actuality, do not exist, I think the next logical question to ask is - What does exist in the absence of truth? A Vacuum that may be filled by any of, but not limited to, the following :

a) a state/situation (which is an actuality) of confusion that may lead to
b) a state/situation (which is an actualilty) of wrong (an actuality) actions/reactions of the persons or things involved that in turn leads to

            b1) the problematic situation

c) a state/situation (which is an actuality) of imbalance (actuality) that again affects the persons or things involved – e.g. an imbalance of power distribution, an imbalance distribution of resources – that in turn leads to

c1) the problematic situation (e.g. injustice, excessive wealth in the hands of an
extreme minority, extreme lack or poverty that is suffered by an extreme
                  majority).

What I Think : The source of human problems is not the presence of lies – because lies do not have presence, it is not a thing, it does not exist. What does exist is truth but in the absence of truth, what is left, albeit oftentimes very temporarily, is a vacuum that will be filled by confusion and/or wrong actions/reactions of the people or things involved and/or imbalance thus creating what is described as a problematic situation.

A follow-up comment by the same draft reader who posted the question goes “If lies don’t exist, hence there are no liars”

What I Think – Liars are people who speak of things or situations that do not exist (lies). However and more importantly, the definition of the word 'Liar' evolves into something more sinister when the 'intention' of the person speaking the lie (Liar) is added into the meaning of the word. Therefore, I offer that the negative-leaning meaning of the word 'Liar' are any of, but not limited to, the following; the confused who speaks of his/her confusion with or without the intention (confused yet innocent) of confusing others, the ill-advised who speaks of his/her ill-advisory with or without the intention (ill-advised yet innocent) of ill-advising others, the wrongly-advised who speaks of his/her wrong-advisory with or without the intention (wrongly-advised yet innocent) of wrongly-advising others, etc.

Liars exist. Lies do not.

A Good Story : A Letter to a Fool

For the price of Php 36 (roughly US 0.70 cents) in a small, nondescript shop for pre-owned books, this codex, which I picked up from a stack of a 'mini-mountain' of other books and titles, turned out to be my virtual key for an enviable access to a world of  priceless, timeless stories.  In no time, a flood of inspirations was borne out of each ancient, mostly personal tales came to me unceasingly. It wouldn't allow me to breathe until I create new stories out the old. The following is one of them. A Letter to a Fool  by  Ramon E.
